My Philanthropic Experience

dedicated to selfless service and inspiring others

My history in nonprofit and extracurricular activities is vast, varied, and vehemently important to me. These organizations made me who I am today as a professional, creative, leader, and team builder.

My Organizations

My freshman year, I joined Alpha Epsilon Phi, Beta Eta chapter at UC San Diego. The mission of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority is to inspire and support exemplary women dedicated to friendship and a lifelong commitment to Alpha Epsilon Phi while building on the vision of our Jewish founders. We plan and participate in events to fundraise for our two national philanthropies, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), and Sharsheret, a breast and ovarian cancer support nonprofit. We also hold sisterhood events, participate in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) certified training, plan community service volunteering events like breast cancer walks and food drives, and create a safe social environment for any woman on our campus looking for fellowship.

In my chapter, I served as Vice President in charge of Programming (twice). I was elected to this position and given the responsibility of overseeing any and all social, educational, and recreational activities planned by the chapter, as well as the management of six subordinate chair positions, all pertaining to planning a network of events for the chapter's calendar. These events ranged anywhere from small study sessions to our quarterly formal dances. This position required key communication and administration skills, including but not limited to maintaining inter-fraternal and inter-sorority relations with the entire campus network, reserving event spaces both on and off-campus, building and balancing event budgets, delegating necessary tasks, planning large-scale social gatherings with an estimated 300-400 guests, managing and negotiating contracts, coordinating with vendors for food, decorations, music, transportation, and keeping tabs on attendance before, during, and after any event. This was arguably the most enjoyable position I held in my sorority, and that is out of 8 other positions I had held in my four years of undergraduate education.

I also served as VP Social, Assistant to the VP Membership, Recruitment Chair, Retreat Chair, Merchandising Chair, Senior Chair, and Social Media Chair. I was an active, outstanding member all four years at UCSD.

I was also chosen to serve the entire UCSD Panhellenic Council as a Rho Gamma (Recruitment Guide) for Formal PHC Recruitment in 2019. I did my best to help over 200 girls through an intimidating and rigorous week of recruitment. Rho Gammas are in charge of maintaining order, morale, and correct conduct throughout the proceedings. We especially act as role models and counselors to the over 200 girls we guide through an intimidating and rigorous week. We have to encourage them to keep an open mind and believe in themselves every step of the way. I had to console girls who didn’t end up in their favorite chapters and build their confidence back up before the next round. It was one of the most emotionally daunting and yet wildly fulfilling experiences I have ever had, all because I got to help amazing girls find their families on campus through the power of positivity and empathy.

I served on the Company 157 Executive Board for three years. and graduated as the Executive Director of Public Relations, Communications, and Social Events. Company 157 is a student-run production company dedicated to producing student work. 157's event calendar, brand identity, and digital media presence I built from the ground up. I established our first annual Performing Arts Social, a student recruitment fair that brought over 40 performing arts organizations together with a common goal of expanding memberships and spotlighting the student performing arts community. I also planned and managed three years worth of social and promotional events for the student body with the intention of building camaraderie and fellowship among our students, promoting collaboration across disciplines, and spreading the Company 157 values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and equal access to all student artists and theatre-makers.

California Rainbow

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) is an international nonprofit service organization for girls who develop into strong leaders. Rainbow teaches the importance of friendship, kindness, community service, and moral integrity.

I have been involved in California Rainbow in some capacity since I was eight years old. I joined the Diablo Valley Pledge Group and served as Pledge Sister there. When I turned 11, I was initiated into Concord Assembly #15, where I've served numerous leadership roles. I went all the way up the line of leadership offices and was elected Worthy Advisor. I was even awarded and named Miss Service in California for the year 2016.

In 2017, I was chosen to serve as an elite state representative we call a Grand Officer. My official title is Member of the Grand Executive Committee, Rainbow Flag Bearer, and Representative to Canada, New Hampshire, and Vermont in 2018. My officer core was known as the Revolutionary Rhinos, our mascot. We chose to support Families Forward, a nonprofit dedicated to serving the homeless population in Orange County, CA, as our Grand Service Project, a yearly cause chosen by the grand officers to which the entire state organization contributes.

In this office, I served as a member of the California Youth Summit and discussed solutions to problems that faced all three youth organizations on a grand scale. I also visited the New Hampshire and Vermont jurisdictions as California's official representative. Most excitingly, as a Member of the Grand Executive Committee, I was tasked with re-designing and executing the Fun Event at our annual Grand Assembly 2018, one night of grand fun and excitement during our five-day yearly convention with an estimate of at least 900 participating guests. What was once a dated night of carnival games and jump houses, under my leadership became a high-tech Lazer Tag competition, engaging all ages and driving attendance through the roof. Safety, space, and budgets all had to be handled directly by me and my committee, and after months of planning, I set a new standard for this event that still holds today.

At the end of my grand term, I was awarded the Grand Cross of Color, the highest honor that can be bestowed within the organization, for my long history of leadership and excellent service.

DeMolay, the premier men's international Masonic youth leadership organization, striving to shape young men into leaders of character. Sweethearts act as a liaison between the DeMolay Chapter and the local Rainbow Assemblies and Job's Daughters Bethels. A Sweetheart’s enthusiasm must always be
evident while conducting her duties and she always needs to be positive in her approach to all DeMolay
matters. Sweethearts bridge the social gap between the organizations, planning and executing co-op events and encouraging cross-organization attendance.

As Sweetheart of Martinez John Muir Chapter, Order of DeMolay, my task was to plan events with the Master Counselor, act as liaison to the other Masonic Youth organizations, represent John Muir Martinez Chapter at state functions, and create a fun and uplifting environment for the boys in my chapter. My favorite achievement is when I was granted the Have a Heart award for my role in designing and organizing an event that had educational, charitable, and recruitment value. This event I called the Martinez DeMolay Crayons and PokeCrawl was a joint effort in collecting, prepping, and sending crayons to donate to The Crayon Initiative, as well as gathering boys for a fun Pokemon GO themed party which got them to go outside and adventure through their local neighborhood, sharing the fun and festivities with the public. During my term as Sweetheart, I also received the Past Sweetheart Service Award, the Representative Sweetheart Award, and the Lamp of Knowledge from the Northern California DeMolay Association for my excellence in service, performance, and knowledge of and in my position, as well as the organization itself.

Job’s Daughters is an international Masonic youth organization for young women that provides a safe place for girls to have fun, learn leadership skills, and be an active part of their community! Young women have an opportunity to bloom, lead, and soar, and Job’s Daughters gives them the tools to do exactly that. Through business meetings, leadership camps, and organizing events and fundraisers, young women develop the leadership skills needed to be amazing leaders.

I was elected Honored Queen of Bethel #185 Napa, Job's Daughters International at only fourteen years old. I was elected after serving numerous leadership roles prior, and going all the way up the line of succession, to lead my bethel in every way. I was in charge of planning and executing a 6-month calendar of fundraising, recruitment, and social events, as well as setting an example of decorum and compassion for my younger members.

I have also served Job's Daughters California in many other ways. I have served in three state Necrology ceremonies, competed in the Grand Bethel talent and ritual competitions numerous times, and encouraged many of my friends to join my bethel with me.
